DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 0: TRAVEL TO HA GIANG CITY (MEALS: ON YOUR OWN)
Hanoi to your chosen hotel in Ha Giang City: approx. 280 km | 5.5 - 6.0 hours by bus
Noi Bai International Airport to Ha Giang City: approx. 257 km | 4.5 – 5.0 hours by bus
Travel independently from major cities such as Hanoi or other provinces to Ha Giang City before the tour departure. Guests will be provided with one complimentary dormitory night before the journey begins, allowing time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead.
Nomadic Soul Travel can assist with booking round-trip sleeper buses to Ha Giang with flexible departure times at 07:00, 12:00, 16:00, and 21:00.
DAY 1: HA GIANG CITY – FAIRY MOUNTAIN – THAM MA PASS – VUONG PALACE – DONG VAN (B / L / D)
Ha Giang City to Quan Ba: approx. 46 km | 1.5–2 hours
Quan Ba to Dong Van Old Quarter: approx. 100 km | 3–3.5 hours
The day begins in Ha Giang City with a short briefing before departing toward the legendary Dong Van Karst Plateau.
Leaving the city behind, the road gradually climbs into the highlands. Along the way, scenic stops are made at Bac Sum Pass and Quan Ba Heaven Gate, where sweeping views open across Tam Son Valley and the famous Twin Fairy Mountains.
Continuing deeper into the plateau, the journey passes through winding mountain roads and remote Hmong villages before reaching Tham Ma Pass, a well-known viewpoint surrounded by dramatic limestone formations.
In the afternoon, visit the Vuong Palace in Sa Phin. Built in the early 20th century by Vuong Chinh Duc, the residence once served as the political and economic center of the Hmong aristocracy in the region. Its architecture reflects a unique combination of Hmong and Chinese influences.
Late afternoon arrival in Dong Van town.
In the evening, enjoy dinner featuring regional specialties before taking a leisurely walk through Dong Van Old Quarter. On weekends, the town square often comes alive with local gatherings and cultural activities.

Tham Ma Pass
DAY 2: DONG VAN – LUNG CU – MA PI LENG PASS – NHO QUE RIVER – MEO VAC (B / L / D)
Dong Van Old Quarter to Lung Cu: approx. 25 km | 1.0 – 1.5 hours
Dong Van Old Quarter to Meo Vac: approx. 25 km | 1.0 – 1.5 hours
The morning begins in Dong Van with breakfast at the hotel. If visiting on a weekend, guests may take a short walk through the lively Dong Van morning market, where local ethnic communities gather to trade goods and socialize.
Around 09:00, depart toward Lung Cu, located near Vietnam’s northern frontier. The Lung Cu Flag Tower stands on Dragon Mountain and marks the symbolic northernmost region of the country. From the top, visitors can enjoy sweeping views of the surrounding limestone landscape and nearby villages.
Nearby, a stop is made at the northernmost viewpoint area before continuing to Lo Lo Chai village, a picturesque settlement at the foot of the mountain where the Lo Lo ethnic community maintains traditional earthen houses and distinctive cultural customs.
Return toward Dong Van for lunch at a local restaurant featuring traditional highland cuisine.
In the early afternoon, continue the journey along the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, widely regarded as one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Southeast Asia. From several scenic viewpoints along the ridge, travelers can admire breathtaking panoramas of the Dong Van Karst Plateau, the deep Tu San Canyon, and the winding Nho Que River far below.
Later in the afternoon, descend to the river for a boat excursion along the emerald waters of the Nho Que River. Surrounded by towering limestone cliffs rising hundreds of meters above the water, the journey through Tu San Canyon offers one of the most dramatic landscapes of the entire Ha Giang region.
By late afternoon, arrive at Pa Vi Cultural Village near Meo Vac, where traditional Hmong-style houses are set among the mountains.

Lung Cu Flag Tower
DAY 3: MEO VAC – MAU DUE – BAN AN STREAM – DU GIA VILLAGE (B / L / D)
Meo Vac to Du Gia: approx. 70 km | 3–3.5 hours
After breakfast at the homestay, guests may visit the vibrant Meo Vac Sunday Market if the journey falls on a weekend. This is one of the largest ethnic markets in the Ha Giang region, where communities from surrounding mountain villages gather to trade livestock, produce, textiles, and handmade goods.
Leaving Meo Vac, the journey continues south along a scenic mountain road toward Mau Due. Along the way, several photo stops are made at spectacular viewpoints, including the famous M-shaped mountain bends overlooking deep valleys.
Around midday, enjoy lunch beside Ban An Stream, a quiet natural setting surrounded by forest and mountain scenery.
In the afternoon, guests experience a gentle bamboo rafting activity along the clear waters of Ban An Stream. Floating slowly upstream toward Tham Lin Cave, this peaceful experience offers a different perspective of the surrounding mountain landscape.
Later in the day, continue toward Du Gia village, a tranquil Tay ethnic community nestled among rice fields and forested mountains.
Upon arrival, guests are free to stroll through the village and observe daily life in the countryside before enjoying dinner at the homestay.

Du Gia Village
DAY 4: DU GIA – DU GIA WATERFALL – DUONG THUONG VALLEY – HA GIANG CITY (B / L / _)
Du Gia to Ha Giang City: approx. 70 km | 2.5–3 hours
The morning begins peacefully in the village of Du Gia with breakfast at the homestay.
Afterward, take a short walk or drive to nearby Du Gia Waterfall. Hidden within a lush valley, the waterfall flows year-round and offers a refreshing place to relax or swim while enjoying the surrounding natural scenery.
Late morning departure toward Duong Thuong Valley, following one of the most scenic mountain routes in the region. The road winds through quiet valleys, terraced fields, and remote villages rarely visited by most travelers.
Lunch is served in Duong Thuong before continuing the journey back to Ha Giang City.
In the afternoon, the road descends gradually from the highlands toward the lowland valleys of Ha Giang.
Arrival in Ha Giang City is expected around 16:00. Guests may rest and refresh at the Nomadic Soul Travel office before boarding a sleeper bus for the return journey.
Travelers may choose an early bus departing around 16:30–17:00 for same-day return, or a night sleeper bus at 21:00 for arrival in other cities the following morning.
