DETAILED ITINERARY:
DAY 0: TRAVEL TO HA GIANG CITY (Meals: On your own)
Travel independently from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to Ha Giang City. Nomadic Soul Travel can assist with booking comfortable VIP sleeper buses with flexible departure times at 07:00, 12:00, 16:00, or 21:00.
Upon arrival in Ha Giang City, guests may enjoy one complimentary pre-tour dormitory night at the Nomadic Soul Travel rest area. This allows travelers to relax and prepare before the official itinerary begins the following morning.

DAY 1: HA GIANG CITY – CAO MA PO – FAIRY TWIN MOUNTAINS – NAM DAM VILLAGE (B/ L/ D)
The journey begins in Ha Giang City, where guests meet the team and receive a short introduction before setting out toward the northern mountains.
The first part of the day leads to Cao Ma Po, a quiet border area where Hoa communities have lived for generations. Here, guests can gain a glimpse into local architecture, daily life, and the distinctive cultural atmosphere of this frontier region. Depending on conditions, there may also be an opportunity to approach the Vietnam–China border marker area.
Lunch is enjoyed in a local setting, where travelers can sample Cao Ma Po beef hotpot, a regional dish with strong Chinese influence.
In the afternoon, the route turns toward the gateway of the Dong Van Karst Plateau. Scenic stops are made along Bac Sum Pass, Quan Ba Heaven Gate, and the Twin Fairy Mountains, offering a beautiful introduction to Ha Giang’s limestone landscapes.
By late afternoon, arrive in Nam Dam village, a traditional Dao community known for its earthen houses, cool climate, and strong cultural identity. Dinner is served at the homestay, where guests can enjoy the peaceful rhythm of village life.

Vietnam–China border
DAY 2: SAO HA VILLAGE – THAM MA PASS – LAO XA – VUONG FAMILY PALACE – LO LO CHAI (B/ L/ D)
After breakfast, the journey continues deeper into the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
The morning begins with a visit to Sao Ha village, a hidden Hmong settlement tucked away among forested mountains. Small, remote, and atmospheric, the village is known for its old houses, local legends, and its recent role as a film setting.
From here, the road continues toward the iconic curves of Tham Ma Pass, one of Ha Giang’s most recognizable mountain roads.
After lunch, guests visit Lao Xa village, a beautiful Hmong settlement where traditional silver-making is still practiced. The village offers both cultural value and a strong sense of place within the rocky plateau.
Later, the journey reaches the Vuong Family Palace, also known as the Hmong King’s Palace. This historic residence provides insight into the architecture, history, and social legacy of the Vuong family and the Hmong people of the plateau.
By late afternoon, arrive in Lo Lo Chai village at the foot of Lung Cu Flag Tower. Guests may walk through the village, observe local life, and settle into the homestay before dinner.

Vuong Family Palace
DAY 3: LUNG CU – NORTHERNMOST POINT – MA PI LENG PASS – NHO QUE RIVER – PA VI VILLAGE (B/ L/ D)
The day begins with a visit to Lung Cu Flag Tower, one of the most symbolic landmarks in Vietnam and a powerful reminder of the country’s northern frontier.
Nearby, travelers continue to the northernmost point, where the Nho Que River begins its journey into Vietnamese territory.
Later, the route returns toward Dong Van for lunch, followed by time to stroll through the old quarter and enjoy a coffee in the historic town center.
In the afternoon, the journey moves toward the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Vietnam. The pass opens dramatic views over the limestone plateau and the deep gorge below.
From there, guests descend toward the Nho Que River for a boat excursion through Tu San Canyon, one of the most striking natural highlights of Ha Giang.
By late afternoon, arrive in Pa Vi cultural village in Meo Vac. With its peaceful setting and distinctive Hmong-inspired architecture, the village offers a relaxed and memorable overnight stop.

Nho Que River - Tu San Canyon
DAY 4: NIA DO BAMBOO FOREST – M-SHAPED CURVES – DUONG THUONG – LUNG TAM – HA GIANG CITY (B/ L)
After breakfast, the final day begins with a journey along the remote and beautiful Tia Cua Si route, often considered one of the most impressive roads in the Dong Van Karst Plateau. From this elevated route, travelers can enjoy sweeping views over the Nho Que valley, Ma Pi Leng, the Sam Pun range, and the nearby borderlands.
A stop is made at the Nia Do bamboo forest, a quiet and unusual green pocket hidden within the rocky plateau.
The journey then continues back toward Ha Giang via Mau Due, with scenic viewpoints along the way including the well-known M-shaped curves.
After lunch, the route continues through Duong Thuong, where mountains soften into valleys, villages, and quieter highland landscapes.
Before reaching Ha Giang City, guests visit Lung Tam linen village to learn about the traditional hemp weaving process and its cultural importance in Hmong life.
Arrival in Ha Giang City is expected in the late afternoon. Guests may freshen up at the office before continuing onward by sleeper bus if needed. You can choose an early bus departing around 16:30–17:00 for same-day return, or a night sleeper bus departing at 21:00 to travel to other provinces and arrive early the following morning.
