✨ Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: HO CHI MINH - BEN TRE - AN HOA – VINH LONG [L|D]
HCMC to Ben Tre (80km): 2 hours
Leave the bustle of Ho Chi Minh City behind and journey south into a gentler world.
After a 2-hour drive, arrive in Ben Tre, known as the “Land of Coconuts,” where green palms line the canals like poetry in motion.
Step aboard your private wooden sampan, meet your friendly crew, and set sail through a labyrinth of waterways.
Transfer to a small rowing boat to explore the shaded canals of Phong Nam Village, where water coconuts form an emerald arch overhead.
At a farmer’s home, taste freshly picked fruits and learn how each season shapes daily life in the Delta. Visit a rice noodle factory, simple, fragrant, and entirely handmade before cycling through nearby hamlets where children laugh and buffaloes bathe in the sun.
Return to the sampan for a river view lunch, then continue cruising toward Sa Dec. Along the way, stop by a floating fish farm, a glimpse into Vietnam’s ingenious river-based economy and later, bike through Long Trung Village, an idyllic maze of canals and fruit gardens.
As evening falls, return to your boat. Join a cooking demonstration with your onboard chef and savor dinner as fireflies flicker over the water. The boat anchors for the night under a starlit sky, the only sounds are the whispers of the river and the gentle hum of life around you.
Overnight aboard the sampan.
DAY 2: VINH LONG – SA DEC – HO CHI MINH [B]
Sa Dec to HCMC (145km): 3 hours
Wake to the rhythm of the Delta, roosters calling, oars dipping, and the scent of breakfast drifting through the air.
As your sampan glides toward Sa Dec, sip coffee and watch morning unfold across the water.
Disembark to explore this romantic riverside town, the real-life setting of The Lover, where French colonial charm mingles with Vietnamese soul.
Visit Huynh Thuy Le’s family home, once the residence of the Chinese merchant who inspired Duras’ famous novel, and the high school where her mother taught. Then, continue to Kien An Temple, an elegant sanctuary of color and calm.
Cycle through An Phu Dong Village, famed for its flower farms that have supplied Saigon’s markets for generations. Petals of chrysanthemums, marigolds, and daisies fill the air with their sweet scent, a farewell gift from the Delta.
Meet your driver and return to Ho Chi Minh City, carrying with you more than photographs, you’ll bring home the serenity of the Mekong, the smiles of its people, and a gentle reminder that beauty lives in simplicity.
