Begin the journey from Hanoi with the classic overnight train experience to Lao Cai, the gateway to Sapa and the mountainous northwest of Vietnam.

DAY 2: LAO CAI, HIGHLAND ETHNIC MARKET, AND SAPA TOWN (MEALS: B / L)

Arrive in Lao Cai and continue into the highlands for a visit to one of the region’s colorful ethnic markets, depending on the travel date. The market offers a lively introduction to local life, traditional costumes, mountain products, and the social rhythm of highland communities.

The morning is at your leisure at Topas Ecolodge. You can either relax or borrow high-quality mountain bikes from the lodge for an exploration of the surrounding areas.

Topas Mountain Express departs at 1:30 PM from Topas Ecolodge and returns you to your hotel in Hanoi.
