DAY 1: HANOI – HA GIANG (MEALS: LUNCH, DINNER)
Distance: approx. 300 km
Driving time: approx. 6 – 6.5 hours, including short rest stops
In the morning, depart from Hanoi and travel north towards Ha Giang Province. As the journey progresses, the landscape gradually changes from the Red River Delta to the striking limestone mountains of the northern highlands.
A short stop is arranged along the way for rest and refreshment.
In the afternoon, arrive in Ha Giang in the early afternoon and continue to An Châng Retreat, a peaceful boutique retreat set in a quiet natural setting. Check in and rest after the long drive.
The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax and enjoy the greenery, stream, and surrounding mountain scenery of the retreat.

An Châng Retreat Ha Giang
DAY 2: AN CHÂNG RETREAT HA GIANG – QUAN BA – YEN MINH – DONG VAN (MEALS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER)

Driving time: approx. 5 – 6 hours, including scenic stops
After breakfast in the peaceful mountain setting of An Châng Retreat, the journey continues deeper into the Dong Van Karst Plateau.
The drive passes Bac Sum Pass, the gateway to this remarkable geological region where dramatic limestone mountains begin to dominate the landscape. Continue to Quan Ba Heaven Gate, located at an altitude of approximately 1,500 metres above sea level, offering panoramic views over Tam Son Valley and the Twin Fairy Mountains.
The route then continues through Yen Minh Pine Forest, known for its fresh air and winding mountain roads.
Lunch is served en route.
In the afternoon, visit the Vuong Palace, also known as the Hmong King’s Palace. Built in the early 20th century by Vuong Chinh Duc, this stone-and-wood residence once served as the centre of power over a large highland area. Located along the historic trade route between Vietnam and China, the palace reflects the period when the Dong Van Plateau played an important role in regional trade networks. Its architecture reveals a refined blend of Hmong craftsmanship and Chinese cultural influence, while also reflecting the semi-autonomous status once held by the Hmong aristocracy.
Arrive in Dong Van Old Quarter by late afternoon. Free time to stroll through the old stone streets or relax at a local café.

Vuong Palace
DAY 3: DONG VAN – MA PI LENG PASS – NHO QUE RIVER – DU GIA (MEALS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER)
Distance: approx. 140 km
Driving time: approx. 5 – 6 hours, including sightseeing and activities
Depart Dong Van for Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Southeast Asia. Stop at carefully selected safe viewpoints overlooking Tu San Canyon and the Nho Que River far below.
Continue down to the Nho Que boat station for an approximately 1.5-hour boat journey along the river through Tu San Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in Southeast Asia. From the water, the towering limestone cliffs appear even more dramatic, offering a completely different perspective from the views above the pass. Life jackets are provided, and the boats are operated by experienced local boatmen. Boarding and disembarkation points are selected according to weather and water conditions to ensure safety.
The journey then continues through Meo Vac and Mau Due towards Du Gia Valley, where the landscape softens into rice terraces and Tay ethnic villages.
Arrive in Du Gia in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Du Gia.

Nho Que River
DAY 4: DU GIA – HA GIANG – HANOI (MEALS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH)
Distance: approx. 380 – 400 km
Total driving time: approx. 8.5 – 9.5 hours
In the morning, take a gentle walk of approximately 1 km to Du Gia Waterfall. The walking route is suitable for most travelers. Swimming may be possible depending on weather and water conditions.
Return for breakfast and check out.
Travel back to Ha Giang City, a drive of approximately 3 – 3.5 hours depending on road conditions.
Lunch is served in Ha Giang.
After lunch, continue by expressway back to Hanoi, with a driving time of approximately 5.5 – 6 hours depending on traffic conditions.
Expected arrival in Hanoi is in the late afternoon or early evening, subject to traffic.
