DETAILED ITINERARY

DAY 0: ARRIVE IN HA GIANG CITY (MEALS: ON YOUR OWN)

Hanoi to your chosen hotel in Ha Giang City: approx. 280 km | 5.5 - 6.0 hours by bus

Noi Bai International Airport to Ha Giang City: approx. 257 km | 4.5 – 5.0 hours by bus

Travel independently from major cities such as Hanoi or other provinces to Ha Giang City before the tour departure. Guests will be provided with one complimentary dormitory night before the journey begins, allowing time to rest and prepare for the adventure ahead. Nomadic Soul Travel can assist with booking round-trip sleeper buses to Ha Giang with flexible departure times at 07:00, 12:00, 16:00, and 21:00.

DAY 1: HA GIANG – DONG VAN (MEALS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH, DINNER)

Ha Giang City to Quan Ba: approx. 46 km | 1.5–2 hours

Quan Ba to Dong Van Old Quarter: approx. 100 km | 3–3.5 hours

The journey begins in Ha Giang City, where guests have time to freshen up before setting out into the landscapes of the Dong Van Karst Plateau.

The morning route leads through some of Ha Giang’s most iconic gateway scenery, including Bac Sum Pass, Quan Ba Heaven Gate, and the Fairy Twin Mountains, where the dramatic beauty of the northern highlands begins to unfold.

Continuing deeper into the plateau, the journey reaches Tham Ma Pass, one of Ha Giang’s most recognizable mountain roads, before stopping for lunch in Pho Cao.

In the afternoon, guests visit Lung Cam Cultural Village, a peaceful H’Mong hamlet known for its earthen houses, yin-yang tiled roofs, and quiet mountain character. The route then continues to the Vuong Palace, often referred to as the H’Mong King’s Palace, where architecture, history and local heritage come together in one of the plateau’s most notable landmarks.

The day continues to Lung Cu Flag Tower, Vietnam’s northernmost landmark, before descending to Lo Lo Chai Village, where a gentle walk through the village offers a closer look at local life beneath the flag tower.

By late afternoon, guests arrive in Dong Van Town, check in at their hotel, and enjoy dinner. The evening is left free to wander through the old quarter and take in the atmosphere of this historic highland town.

Vuong Palace

DAY 2: MEO VAC – HA GIANG CITY (MEALS: BREAKFAST, LUNCH)

Meo Vac to Ha Giang City: approx. 170 km | 5.0 - 5.5 hours

After breakfast, guests may explore Dong Van’s morning market if traveling on a weekend, before continuing toward one of Ha Giang’s most spectacular natural highlights.

The route follows the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, where panoramic views open over the limestone mountains, the deep Tu San Canyon and the jade-green Nho Que River below. The journey then continues onto the river itself with a scenic boat experience through one of the most remarkable landscapes in northern Vietnam.

Lunch is served in Meo Vac Town.

In the afternoon, the return journey to Ha Giang follows the scenic Mau Due route, with opportunities to stop at mountain viewpoints along the way, including the iconic M-shaped curves.

Back in Ha Giang City, guests have time to rest and enjoy dinner before boarding the overnight sleeper bus onward to Hanoi or other connected destinations.
