Km0 Ha Giang

DAY 1: HA GIANG CITY – KHAU LAN WATERFALL – SUOI BINH DUONG – QUAN BA GATE – TWIN FAIRY MOUNTAINS (B/ L/ D)

The day begins at 7:30 AM with pickup and a short tour briefing at the Nomadic Soul office in Ha Giang City. Guests then transfer to a local restaurant for breakfast before starting the journey.

From here, travel toward the lush tropical landscapes surrounding Khau Lan Waterfall. A short trek of about one kilometer through dense forest leads to one of Ha Giang’s most impressive hidden cascades. Surrounded by towering cliffs and greenery, the waterfall offers an opportunity for swimming, photography, and quiet moments in nature.

Lunch is served in the Quyet Tien area before continuing deeper into the karst landscape.

In the afternoon, explore the Tung San cave system, a fascinating underground world of limestone formations and hidden streams. The cavern’s large openings and dramatic stalactites create a natural gateway-like appearance carved through the mountain.

Later, ascend toward Quan Ba Heaven Gate, one of the most scenic viewpoints in northern Vietnam. From here, sweeping panoramas reveal the Tam Son Valley and the iconic Twin Fairy Mountains rising from the valley floor.

By late afternoon, arrive at Nam Dam village, home to the Dao ethnic community. The village is known for its distinctive earthen houses and strong preservation of traditional culture. A leisurely walk through the village offers insight into daily life, architecture, and customs.

Dinner is served at the homestay, followed by cultural exchange and stories shared by local hosts.

DAY 2: THAM MA PASS – SANG TUNG ROCK DESERT – HMONG KING’S PALACE – LUNG CU AREA – DONG VAN (B/ L/ D)

After breakfast, depart Nam Dam and continue north toward the heart of the Dong Van Karst Plateau.

The morning route passes through Tham Ma Pass, a historic mountain road famous for its dramatic curves and sweeping views across terraced hills and highland villages.

Continue to the remote Sang Tung Stone Desert, a rarely visited landscape where limestone formations stretch across the plateau in wave-like patterns. The stark beauty of this area provides a striking contrast to the green valleys below.

Lunch is arranged in Sa Phin village.

In the afternoon, visit the Vuong Family Palace, also known as the Hmong King’s Palace. Built in the early 20th century by Vuong Chinh Duc, this impressive stone and timber residence once served as the political and economic center of the Hmong region. The architecture reflects both local craftsmanship and subtle Chinese influences.

Continue toward the Lung Cu area near Vietnam’s northernmost frontier. Depending on time and conditions, an optional stop may be made near the Lung Cu Flag Tower area.

Arrive in Dong Van in the late afternoon and check in at the hotel.

Dinner features a local specialty, black chicken hotpot, followed by free time to explore the charming streets of Dong Van Old Quarter.

DAY 3: MA PI LENG PASS – WHITE CLIFF TRAIL – NHO QUE & TU SAN – PA VI VILLAGE (B/L/D)

After breakfast, depart Dong Van for one of the most spectacular mountain roads in Southeast Asia: Ma Pi Leng Pass. The road clings dramatically to the cliffs above Tu San Canyon, offering breathtaking views of the Nho Que River far below.

A highlight of the day is a scenic hike along the White Cliff ridge trail. This approximately six-kilometer walk follows a narrow mountain path overlooking the canyon and surrounding limestone peaks. Along the way, several viewpoints offer striking photo opportunities, including dramatic rock formations and panoramic views of the plateau.

Lunch is served in Pa Vi village.

In the afternoon, descend to the Nho Que River for a boat excursion through Tu San Canyon, considered the deepest canyon in Southeast Asia. From the water, towering limestone walls rise steeply on both sides, creating an unforgettable landscape. Later, explore Pa Vi Cultural Village, a community preserving the traditions of the Hmong people.

Lunch is served in Meo Vac town.

In the afternoon, begin the scenic return journey toward Ha Giang City via Mau Due. Along the route, several photo stops are made at dramatic viewpoints, including the famous M-shaped curves that wind through the mountains.
